Ground Turkey Mozzarella Balls

Quick, healthy and fun for the kids!  Ground turkey and homemade fresh whole wheat bread crumbs give this recipe a mild (non-meatloaf-like) flavor.  Add some additional pasta sauce,  freshly grated Parmesan cheese and serve with crusty garlic bread and fresh, crisp string beans.




2 lbs lean ground turkey
1  1/2 cups fresh wholewheat bread crumbs
2 eggs
2/3 cup pasta sauce
8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 12 cubes


  • Preheat oven to 350 bake.  Spray a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray
  • Combine all ingredients and mix.  Shape into 12 balls and place in muffin tin
  • Press 1 cheese cube into each ball and seal meat around the cube
  • Place larger pan underneath muffin tin to collect dripping liquid
  • Bake 30 minutes, or until done
