Strawberry Lemon Cooler

How refreshing!  This drink is less sweet than a lemon or limeade.  The main flavor is strawberry, not lemon.  I used nothing but fresh ingredients.  Easy to make, and quite nice to look at in a glass with ice and a sprig or two of fresh mint.  Delicious!

4 cups strawberries (washed and cut in half)
2 squeezed lemons
2/3 cup sugar
6 cups water, divided

  • Blend strawberries, lemon, sugar and 2 cups of water until mixed
  • Place in a strainer along with 4 cups of water
  • Use a spatula to to mush down pulp to get all of the juice
  • Place in a jug
  • Serve cold, garnished with fresh mint or strawberries

Healthy Water

What do you know, a recipe with out calories!!!  The kids are in school, I am exercising 3+ times a week, and I am trying to drink more water.  While we were on vacation,  I was given water infused with fresh strawberries and oranges.  It was delicious!  I recently came across this recipe.  The cucumber slices and fresh mint make for a cool and delicious treat. A fancy glass and straw add to the flavor.  I hope you enjoy.

1/2 sliced and peeled cucumber
1 sliced orange
1` sliced lemon
1 sliced lime
1/2 sliced grapefruit (I used pink...it's sweeter)
1 cup fresh mint

  • Add to a pitcher of water and let and sit and chill to infuse flavors.

P.S.,,, it doesn't get any easier then that.

Cocoa Banana Almond Smoothies

I thought the glass was a nice addition.  It came from a Caribbean cruise that my husband and I went on many years before our children were born.  Now, on to the subject at hand.  This recipe is a great way to use up bananas, consume calcium and trick your kids into thinking that they are drinking sweetened chocolate.

Very refreshing!

Makes 3  8 oz servings

1  1/2 cups crushed ice
1  1/2 cups vanilla almond milk
2 very ripe bananas
1 - 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (I used 2 tablespoons for this picture)
Added sugar if the bananas are not very sweet

  • Place in blender and mix, serve
