Sweet and spicy Apples


Try these apples as a compliment to pancakes, pork chops or even over ice cream.  Yum!

3 lbs tart, cooking apples
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup brown sugar (I used a little less)
1/4 cup granulated sugar (I used a little less)
1/2 cup apple juice or cider
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg


  • Peel, core and slice apples into wedges
  • Heat butter, sugar and juice in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves
  • Add the apples and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg
  • Gently simmer for 10 minutes, or until the apples start to get tender
Serves 6 to 8
