Chinese Chicken Wings

OK, I will admit, this is a pretty pathetic looking picture.  I think I was half way through my 2nd glass of wine when I took it.  Either way,  these were delicious!  Since they were baked, not fried, they did not get as crispy as if they were put in a deep fryer.  I only had time to marinade them for 3 hours, yet the taste was outstanding!

2 cups soy sauce
2 cups brown sugar
2 tablespoons garlic powder
5 lbs chicken wings or drummettes (sp?)

  • Stir soy sauce, brown sugar and garlic powder in a sauce pan over medium heat
  • Cook and stir until the sugar is completely melted.  Remove from heat and allow to cool
  • Place the chicken wings in a large bowl
  • Pour mixture over the wings and toss to coat evenly
  • Cover with plastic wrap.  Allow to marinate in refrigerator overnight or for 8 hours
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Pour the chicken wings and marinade in a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.  cover with aluminium foil
  • Bake for 45 minutes.  Remove foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes.
