M & M Oatmeal Cookies in a Jar

Here it was, less then 2 weeks before Christmas, and I was panicking.  I had 20 something Christmas gifts to make for teaching assistants, Sunday school teachers, bus drivers, etc... and I hadn't started a thing.  Thanks to my trusty friend, (who came to my rescue)  we worked together like an assembly line to make 24 jars of cookie mix.  It took just under 3 hours.  We took a rubber spatula, and pressed down on the ingredients to make them all fit in the bottle.  I then made labels for the directions.  Needless to say, it was a complete success!  Who doesn't like a good cookie every now and then?

Each recipe makes 1 jar  (yes, for 24,  I used A LOT of ingredients!)

1/2 Cup white sugar
1/4 Cup plus 2 Tbps. brown sugar
3/4 Cup oatmeal
1 Cup M & M
1/4 Cup plus 2 Tbps. brown sugar
1 & 1/2 Cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. table salt

Layer ingredients in a quart jar in order given.

Attach to Jar:

  • Empty cookie mix into a large mixing bowl, stir to combine
  • Add 3/4 cup softened butter
  • Add 1 slightly beaten egg along with 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • Mix until completely well blended
  • Drop by rounded teaspoons on a lightly greased cookie sheet
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes
