Makes 12
1 1/2 cup warm water (105-115 degrees)
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon yeast
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
Garlic Spread:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon parsley
- Mix together water, sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture
- Mix until smooth
- Place in greased bowl
- Let rise for 10 minutes (I placed the towel covered glass bowl in a 190 degree heated oven)
- On a clean surface, spread out flour
- Roll out dough to half an inch thick, and 8 to 10 inches in length (rectangle)
- Using a pizza cutter, cut 12 even strips
- Tie each strip into a knot and place on a greased baking sheet
- Let rise for an additional 10 minutes
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes (until lightly browned on top and bottom)
- While rolls are baking, melt butter on top of the stove. Mix garlic powder and parsley
- Once rolls are out of the oven, brush butter mixture on top and serve warm
